Local Groups: Baldock Museum & Local History Society

  Baldock Museum is based at Baldock Town Hall:

Hitchin Street, Baldock, Hertfordshire, SG7 6AX

Opening times:
Wednesday 11.00am-1.30pm;
Sundays 2.00pm-4.00pm;

 
Groups may visit at other times by appointment. Admission costs 25p for adults.
 

There is a permanent display on the history of the town from Roman times to the present.

The museum has a number of local history books, booklets and transcripts of the displays on sale.
 

The Baldock Museum & Local History Society (BMLHS) researches, records, presents and promotes the history of Baldock and its locality and collects and displays items of local historical interest.

Membership of the BMLHS costs £3 for individuals and £5 for families.
Members have free entry to the talks and to the museum and receive two newsletters a year.

The BMLHS also organises talks on topics of local interest. 2009's programme is as follows:

Thursday 28th May “Thoughts on Ancient Baldock”
(NHDC’s Archaeology Officer returns to give some further reflections on the Iron Age and Roman town)
A talk by Keith Fitzpatrick Matthews

Thursday 23rd July “Memories of Kayser Bondor”
A talk by Neville Chuck

Thursday 24th September
AGM and Quiz Evening

Thursday 26th November “Rambles around the History of Wallington”
A talk by Dan Pinnock
 

All talks start at 8.00pm and take place at Baldock Community Centre, Simpson Drive, SG7 6DH.
All are welcome, non-members £1.00.
